Strange
Sometimes what we perceive as strange isn't strange at all; it is the placement of the object and the way in which we view it that makes it strange. In this project, I put an apple under the microscope, enlarged it until it was strange and unrecognizable, and created surface designs from it. Then, I give it a form by printing the pattern on nylon fabric and turning it into a wearable sculpture.
Taking further inspiration from my experience as an immigrant who struggled to fit in and make herself understood, I documented my sculpture in familiar places with the intention of making it look out of place.
